Gen AI and Technology in Education.

I prompted Leonardo AI for this image using a simple prompt – “make me a picture of a key and a brain” – pretty good visual I believe.

My learning journey with AI is steep. Since Fall 2023, I have been experimenting more with different models (Copilot, Leonardo, ChatGPT, Napkin, Synthesia) and am blown away by how quickly things change on a day to day basis. I find it to be overwhelming and have to take breaks from the content intermittently to save my own brain.

My role as an educational developer is changing because of AI and technology. Everything seems to be digital and I am constantly feeling the pressure to “shore up” on this learning platform or the latest fabulous Gen AI tool that emerged in the past minute.

I read Ethan Mollick’s book – Co -Intelligence – and while I enjoyed the book, I could not but help feeling that I was late to the party. The book was introduced to me in Fall and I got to it in December as part of my professional development. I learned some new facts ( that were outdated by the time I got to them), but did not learn anything that blew me out of the water. I think this is because I have been immersed in AI and working with AI throughout the Fall and so perhaps I am not as behind as I thought.
